Goal: Cover 5 Laboratory & Clinical Medicine Courses (Haematology, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Chemical Pathology).


Week 1: Foundations, Cell Injury & Autonomics

Focus: Understanding how cells function, how they get injured, and the basic principles of drug action.

Day 5 Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) I Pharma: Cholinergic Mechanisms (ACh synthesis, Muscarinic/Nicotinic receptors). Pathology: Modifications of Growth (Hyperplasia, Hypertrophy, Atrophy, Metaplasia).

Day 7 Review & Practice Review Week 1 concepts. Practice drawing the Autonomic Nervous System pathways.

Week 2: Inflammation, Fluids & Cardiovascular System

Focus: How the body reacts to injury/infection and managing the heart/kidneys.

Week 4: Immunity, Toxicology & Specialized Systems

Focus: The Immune system, Poisons, and specific organ systems.

Day 24 CNS Pharmacology I Pharma: CNS Transmitters; Sedatives & Hypnotics; Antidepressants. Chem Path: Factors influencing interpretation of results.
Day 25 CNS Pharmacology II Pharma: Antipsychotics; Antiepileptics; Anaesthetics (General & Local). Haem Lab: Blood film making & reporting.
Day 26 Toxicology Pharma: Clinical Toxicology (Principles, Heavy Metals, Poisoning management, Antidotes). Chem Path: Laboratory Hazards & Safety.
Day 27 Respiratory & GIT Pharma: Respiratory Drugs (Asthma, COPD); GIT Drugs (Peptic ulcer, Antiemetics). Haem Lab: PCV Estimation.
Day 28 Antimicrobials Pharma: Antibacterial Drugs (Penicillins, Cephalosporins, Aminoglycosides, etc.) - Big Topic! Pharma: Antifungals.
Day 29 Course Specifics Pharma: Traditional Medicine; Drugs & Skin/Eye. Chem Path: Data Interpretation & Reports.
Day 30 Grand Finale Full Syllabus Review. Focus on "In-Course" topics listed in the timetables.

💡 Study Tips for These Courses

  1. Mechanism of Action (MOA): For Pharmacology, don't just memorize the drug name. Understand the receptor it hits. If you understand the Physiology (from Pathology), the Pharmacology becomes logic, not magic.
  2. "Pots & Slides": In Pathology, pay attention to the "POTS & SLIDES" sessions mentioned in the timetable. Google images of "Gross specimen of [Disease]" and "Histology of [Disease]" for every topic you read.
  3. Lab Values: For Chemical Pathology and Haematology, create a cheat sheet of normal reference ranges (Reference Intervals) early on. You will need these for every case study.
  4. The "Why": When studying Chemical Pathology (Urinalysis), ask why protein appears in urine (Pathology: Glomerular damage) and how we treat it (Pharma: ACE inhibitors). Connect the dots!
